August 6, 2005 - August 15, 2005 Start: Wrangell, Alaska End: Ketchikan, Alaska Trip Highlights: This is the famous Inside Passage of southeast Alaska that literally hundreds of thousands of tourists travel through each summer in HUGE cruise ships. ODYSSEY clients get to view this natural wonder up close and personal. The array of wildlife one will see (guaranteed) include: · Thousands of wild salmon · Bears and more bears at the Anan BearViewingSanctuary · Seals · Whales · Dolphins · Eagles and other raptors · Deer · Moose This is a truly magnificent part of the world and traveling in stable and safe NIMBUS Double Touring Kayaks is one of the best ways to take it all in. We rate this adventure tour as moderate to strenuous or a 7 on a scale of 1-10 based on level of physical fitness required. Previous paddling experience is helpful but not mandatory. |

Mother Boat: We use a mother boat (a large live aboard boat complete with running water, showers, warm beds, etc…) to provide a high level of safety and security during the sea kayaking portions of ODYSSEY. Most of the time the mother boat is out of sight but we will call the boat to come to us if a client needs a break from paddling for any number of reasons. The mother boat also gives our tour group a high degree of flexibility in case of inclement weather - we can avoid long crossings in nasty weather or move from one side of a channel to the other in case of strong winds. |
