Misty Fiords Sea Kayak
The ODYSSEY Tour

Dates: August 18, 2005 - August 30, 2005
Start: Ketchikan, Alaska
End: Stewart, BC / Hyder, Alaska

Trip Highlights: The final segment of the ODYSSEY Tour is our premier adventure and is full of amazing scenery, overnight visits at a couple of the finest remote lodges in the entire north(complete with massage and hot tubs), and up close viewing of wild marine life that few will ever get the chance to experience. Most of the journey is along the Misty Fiords National Monument - a huge US national treasure, which has thankfully been preserved for people like us to visit. Upon reaching Hyder we will visit the Fish Creek Bear Viewing Sanctuary - a  natural wonder where people are able to  view up close salmon, bears, eagles and wolves. We rate this adventure tour as  moderate/strenuous or a 7 on a scale of  1-10 based on level of physical fitness required. Previous paddling experience is helpful but not mandatory.

Mother Boat: We use a mother boat (a large live aboard boat complete with running water, showers, warm beds, etc…) to provide a high level of safety and security during the sea kayaking portions of ODYSSEY. Most of the time the mother boat is out of sight but we will call the boat to come to us if a client needs a break from paddling for any number of reasons. The mother boat also gives our tour group a high degree of flexibility in case of inclement weather. For example, we can avoid long crossings in nasty weather or move from one side of a channel to the other in case of strong winds.
